Notes

Key Characteristics

  • Low, upright shrub, to 2 m high; forming large, clonal thickets.
  • Leaves opposite, simple, blades 6-10cm long dentate; thin; dull green above, paler beneath; pubescnt; petioles 1-3 cm long, pubescent.
  • Twigs slender, finely pubescent, tan to reddish brown, becoming gray.
  • Winter buds appressed, stalked; 4-bud scales, the lower scales very short.
