Key Characteristics

  • Dark green, lush looking, flattened needles
  • Slow growing, long lived, heavily browsed by deer, monoecious
  • Fruit is a small red aryl with a cavity at the apical end
  • Twigs are green on new growth and turning brown with age, with green buds
