Key Characteristics

  • Tree with messy bark, comose seed in capsule with catkins
  • Dioecious, reproduces by fragmentation, shade intolerant, yellow twig (new growth), cat claw bud
  • Leaves long, yet relatively wide; light green, lustrous above, whitish and glaucous beneath
  • Petioles glandless, relatively long, slender, round
