  • This shrub has alternate pinnately compound leaves with 3 leaflets, that tend to be lobed, with serrate margins
  • Fruit is an aggregate of red drubes
  • Petioles are prickly as well as the twig
  • They reproduce clonally by tip rooting and are shade intolerant
  • They are commonly found on open, moist, fertile sites like floodplains and deciduous swamps are pink with a glaucus bloom that cannot be rubbed off because of the dense bristle-hairs
