Notes
Key Characteristics
- Leaves alternate, pinnate (3), rougly serrate with an acuminate tip, lighter on the underside and green above
- Fruit is an aggregate of drupes
- Shade intolerant
- Twigs are red or purple with recurved spines and a glaucus bloom that forms a white cast that can be rubbed away (much less prickly than R. allegheniensis)
