Key Characteristics

  • Quercus imbricaria x Quercus velutina
  • Leaves alternate / clustered, and simple with shallow, sharply pointed, bristle-tipped lobes
  • Hybrid between Q. velutina and Q. imbricaria
  • Fruit is a small acorn with a large-scaled cup
  • Found in dry to wet sites, limited in range, although showing hybrid vigor
  • Twigs heavily flecked with lenticels, light colored buds, and pubescent
