Key Characteristics

  • Leaves with deltoid shape;. upper surface bright, shiny, yellowish green; coarsely toothed, teeth curved and gland tipped
  • Buds long-pointed, 3-sided, resinous
  • Vigorous shoots with corky linear ridges
  • Twigs with large leaf scars and 3 conspicuous bundle scars
  • Grows in river floodplains, often along stream banks; colonizes wet, disturbed sites
