Key Characteristics

  • Bark orange
  • Tree is fast growing
  • Fruit is a medium sized unarmed cone, squat and wide, dark underneath the scales, with dorsal umbos, in tact basal scales
  • Needles are long and radially arranged, two per fascicle, green, flattened, often twisting around each other, not diverging
  • Shade intolerant
