Key Characteristics

  • Bark scaly
  • Fruit is a wide, medium sized cone, armed, light colored underneath
  • Needles are long, 2 per fascicle, occasionally 3 which is indicative of no other species in this class
  • Trunk with lateral branches forming at 45 degrees
