Key Characteristics

  • Fruit is a tightly packed cone which opens after fire exposure, unarmed, resinous
  • Needles are sharp, green, crescent shaped, short, two per fascicle, twisting around each other and diverging near the apical end
  • Found on well drained, sandy, acidic sites
