Notes

Key Characteristics

  • Leaves are alternate, needle shaped, square shaped, borne on sterigmata, pale green or blue with a white glaucus bloom, spiraling around the twig, they are characteristically sharp
  • Buds form little tan rosettes
  • Fruit is a large cone about 10cm or longer with errose papery scales
  • Shade tolerant and found on dry sites
  • Branches often appear downswept
