Key Characteristics
- Low creeping evergreen shrub, 5-15 cm high; stems trailing on the ground or below
- Leaves alternate, simple, evergreen, shallowly crenate-serrate with short bristles, thick and leathery, lustrous, glabrous, emitting a wintergreen odor when crushed
- Twigs slender, arising from stems that are usually below ground, aromatic when crushed
- Winter buds minute, ovoid sesile
