Key Characteristics
- Opposite, pinnately compound leaves; leaflets short-stalked
- Twigs conspicuously 4-sided with low, corky ridges extending between the nodes
- Bark with scaly plates, shaggy
- Samara with fat seed cavity; wing broad, twisted and extending to the base of the seed cavity and surrounding it
