Notes

Key Characteristics

  • Leaves opposite, pinnate (7-9), short stalked (like F. americana)
  • Shade intolerant
  • Found on first bottoms of floodplains in fertile seasonally flooded sites
  • Twigs are pubescent on new growth (variable) with semi-circle shaped leaf scars (F. americana's are more crescent shaped)
  • Sourced during a field lab in Fall 2011
