Notes
Key Characteristics
- Leaves opposite, pinnate (3-5), acuminately tipped
- Fruit is a flattened, paired, parallel samara
- Reproduces clonally by root suckers
- Shade intolerant, lives on first bottoms of river flood plains
- Twig green or purple with a glaucus bloom that forms (can be rubbed off), the nodes are outlined by a lighter green color, the lateral buds are appresed with white pubescence, and the terminus looks similar to those of Fraxinus
